Cuil Aodha (Coolea) Jig
€ 4.00
This is an intermediate-level arrangement of a well-known Irish jig. Cúil Aodha (Coolea) is a village in the Gaeltacht or Irish-speaking area of County Cork. It is known for being the homeplace of the composer and musician Seán O Riada and his family, including his son Peadar, a well-known musician and composer in his own right. This jig is based on a song from that area ‘Amhrán an Tae’ (‘Song of the Tea’). The group Ceoltóirí Laighean added an instrumental section in their arrangement of the song (recorded in 1979), which became the source of the jig version commonly played today.
