This march in 6/8 time was first published c. 1730 in Scotland by Daniel Wright, under the title ‘Lashley’s March’, but a version can be found in a manuscript collection dating from 1694. It was later scored for harp and uilleann pipes by William Reeve for the pantomine Oscar and Malvina which was first performed in London in 1791. It has been recorded by various artists including The Chieftains.
